Get to Know the Team
The communication team builds high-throughput solutions for sending out messages (push notifications, emails, SMS) to millions of users and running marketing campaigns by building a very scalable IFTTT engine. We take pride in building distributed systems that have a real impact on the lives of millions of users in our endeavour to out-serve the underserved population.
Get to Know the Role
You will be responsible for building, growing, and leading a team of engineers focused on delivering high quality deliverables. You will have opportunities to develop backend and mobile components. Not only will you get to collaborate with the engineers, product, business, and program management teams to be on top of your deliverables, but you will also serve as a mentor to your teammates to help them grow. You will work onsite at CMC Creative Space, district 7, HCMC and report to the Manager, who is based in Singapore.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
Lead a team of engineers across different tech stacks. You'll participate in code and design reviews to maintain our high development standards. Partner with cross functional leaders across product, design, analytics to build the product roadmap, set customer-focused metrics and experiment designs. Lead the quarterly planning and build a smooth execution plan with the team for securing the delivery of product and engineering roadmap. Set the engineering strategy and engineering key result targets for the team, consistently improve across testability, availability, security and code quality for your systems and modules. Attract and retain senior engineering talent, actively mentor and develop engineering talent in the team and across Grab. Keep your team staffing aligned with business needs and quickly pivot to changing needs.
What Essential Skills You Will Need
5+ years of engineering experience on backend technologies. At least 2+ year experience as a successful software engineer manager. Demonstrated experience attracting and retaining main talent. Experience mentoring engineers is critical for this role. A cultural role model with a strong sense of humility and empathy, ready to roll up one's sleeves to help the team achieve engineering excellence. Proficiency in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, etc.) Experience with database architect, MySQL, PosgreSQL Experience deploying code in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud environments
